That is all meaningless to the discussion.
Years playing Sorc, and still enjoying her gameplay, no other class feels this satisfactory to play, IMO. But for average / below average players, like I was back in the day, succeeding with Sorc was a struggle and would've had a much easier time playing a META class. Players like Macilus were able to succeed with Sorc, even through her darkest days, through gear + skill + matchup knowledge. But against competent players who knew the matchup, Sorc was quite easily dealt with, esp if they were piloting a META class like Valk or Zerk. Her only saving graces being if her pilot was geared, skilled, and had good matchup knowledge, and the fact Sorc, like Ninja/Kuno, is a "noob-stomp" class, IE: a class that players lacking in matchup knowledge of these classes will struggle with. Sorc was def bottom tier high skill floor + high skill ceiling, lacking protections, nerfed damage and cc, no grab during a LSA + grab META. Even to this day, one of Sorc's worst matchups is Succ Valk, for the very reason of Sorc not having a grab and the sheer amount of protections Valk has. It always had other tools to make up for it."ĭuring the LSA era, it was nigh impossible to CC Valks as Sorc (a melee glass cannon "caster") well, least the ones who knew what they were doing. Sorc never had a grab and thus NEVER relied on it. So how could this be relevant? Simple, it's not. ""no grab": At no point did Sorc have a grab throughout it's entire history. This is taking into account, though, player skill piloting the class, Sorc has always been known to require higher matchup knowledge compared to other classes, and still is today, due to low protection, unforgiving playstyle, bad SA tradeability. After some time she was given Engulfing Shadow, a medium-range, mediumish-damage, SA gap closer (Rabam skill) and Absolute skills - and with the removal of lingering SA, these things allowed Sorc to literally skyrocket up the charts. Nerfs to Grim Reapers, nerf to Ultimate, nerf to Shard Explosion, nerf to Abyssal Flame, nerf to practically everything lol. Over time, she gradually reduced in strength.
The Sorc section on Kakao forum was constantly filled with threads complaining about the state of Sorc in those days, popular and well-known streamers (hi Macilus UwU) often would show massive disappointment in anticipation for Sorc buffs that never came. She has iframes, with lacking damage, and starved of accuracy after getting hevily nerfed in consequtive patches. META favored beefy classes with lingering SA and grab.
